Q51. Why can’t I find a relationship that actually works?

The short answer: Because you are looking for someone who can give you what only your own developed consciousness can give. The relationship cannot be the source. It can only reflect what you bring to it.

The framework: The first chapter of the book is the answer: everyone just wants love. The unconditional kind. The kind that does not require performance, that remains when the attractive version of you is unavailable, that holds without conditions. People search for this in relationships because the tradition that could have pointed them elsewhere was either unavailable or unconvincing.

No person can deliver unconditional love consistently. Not because they don’t want to — because they are also operating from their own impressions, their own nervous system, their own karma. Their love is conditioned by their state. When their state is good, the love flows. When their state is not good, the love contracts. This is not a character failure. It is the physics of two instruments in proximity, both running their own code.

The relationship that “actually works” is not a myth — but it requires two instruments that have developed enough internal ground that they are not requiring each other to be the source. When both people have access to the unconditional belonging that the Sound Current provides, the relationship between them becomes something different. Not desperate. Not depleting. Genuinely additive.

Finding the relationship first and then developing the instrument does not work. The instrument produces the relationship quality, not the other way around. Develop the instrument. The relationship question resolves from there — either the existing relationship transforms, or the person you attract changes because what you are bringing to the meeting has changed.

The turn: The relationship you are looking for requires an instrument you haven’t yet fully built. Build the instrument. The relationship becomes possible.
