Why do I keep attracting the same kind of person? Papneja Method, Dr. Papneja

Q4. Why do I keep attracting the same kind of person?

The short answer: You’re not attracting them. Your karma is meeting their karma. And your nervous system is most comfortable with what it already knows — even when what it already knows is painful.

The framework: Karma is not punishment. It is the physics of impression. Every significant relationship leaves an impression on the nervous system — a pattern of engagement, a frequency of interaction that becomes familiar. The nervous system doesn’t prefer comfortable. It prefers familiar. Familiar and painful is still familiar.

So the pattern repeats. Not because you’re broken or weak or choosing badly. Because the impression hasn’t been resolved. The karma hasn’t moved yet.

The people who work on this through therapy, through journaling, through becoming “more self-aware” — they understand the pattern intellectually but the impression is still there. Understanding the impression is not the same as resolving it. Consciousness resolves impressions. Contact with the source is the mechanism of resolution, not the analysis of what happened.

When the impression resolves, the attraction changes. Not because you’ve learned to pick better. Because the frequency that was calling in those people is no longer broadcasting.

The turn: Stop trying to choose differently. Start working on what’s underneath the choosing. The karma is the signal. The practice is the resolution.
