Q02. I eat well, sleep well, exercise — why do I still feel off?

Q02. I eat well, sleep well, exercise — why do I still feel off?

The short answer: Because the Sanchit is not addressed by diet, sleep, or exercise. The accumulated impressions across lifetimes that constitute the deep layer of your inner experience are below the level that physical optimization can reach. The physical practices improve the gross instrument. The Sanchit is in the subtle body. Different layers, different interventions required.

The framework: This is the most common and most frustrating presentation in the health-conscious, self-developing adult. Every externally verifiable health metric is good. Every recommendation has been followed. And still — the off quality. The low-grade anxiety, the flatness between the productive periods, the persistent sense that something is not quite right even when everything is objectively fine.

The physical practices are working precisely as designed. Diet reduces the physiological inputs that agitate the nervous system baseline. Sleep provides the body with the gross restoration it requires. Exercise produces the Rajas lift that moves the instrument above Tamas and regulates the Rajas excess through healthy expenditure. These are all real and all valuable.

What they cannot do: address the Sanchit. The accumulated impressions from this lifetime and prior ones that constitute the deep layer of habitual activation — the anxiety patterns, the depressive tendencies, the relational patterns, the persistent quality of incompleteness — these are encoded in the subtle body at a level below what physical optimization reaches.

Think of it in terms of the noise level and the signal. Physical optimization reduces the noise level — the gross physiological agitation that was sitting on top of the subtler signal. When the noise level reduces, the subtler signal becomes more audible. Sometimes this is a welcome development — the clarity of good physical health revealing a quality of inner aliveness that the noise was obscuring. Sometimes it is less welcome — the reduced noise revealing the Sanchit’s persistent patterns more clearly than before, which is why some people report that getting healthier makes them feel certain things more acutely, not less.

The practice is the intervention for the signal level itself — not the noise management but the dissolution of the patterns in the subtle body that the noise was produced by and was covering.

The turn: The physical optimization is doing its job. The job it does is not the job of the practice. Both are required. The off quality that persists after physical optimization is the Sanchit making itself audible once the gross noise has been reduced. The practice addresses the Sanchit.
