N01. What actually happened on the cross when Jesus said forgive them for they know not what they do?
The short answer: He was not asking God to erase the karma of the people crucifying him — he knew that was impossible. He was demonstrating what a nervous system in complete contact with consciousness looks like under the most extreme pressure available to a human being. He was not in the event the way everyone around him was in the event. That is the teaching. That is what he was showing.
The framework: The published Reading T11 — The Lord Does Not Forgive, The Lord Balances — and the Wisdom article W13 — There Is No Lord and Savior, There Is Only You — cover this in full. The essential framework:
If someone can save you — why can’t they save themselves? If Jesus could remove karma — take the weight of sin from others and absorb it — why did he still have to go through the crucifixion? Why do all masters still age, still suffer, still die? The answer is precise: karma is physics. Every impression created must balance. The universe does not make exceptions — not for saints, not for masters, not for anyone.
What Jesus was saying on the cross was not a transaction with God on behalf of his executioners. He was observing — from inside complete consciousness contact — that the people crucifying him did not understand what they were doing to their own Sanchit. They were generating enormous new Kriyaman — the impression of participating in the crucifixion, with full reactive identification, with all the charge of fear and rage and confusion landing on their nervous systems. He could see this. He was watching it from a ground that the charge could not reach.
Forgive them — not a request that God neutralize their karma. A statement of the practitioner’s complete absence of reactive identification with what was being done to the body. He was not generating the impression of resentment because he was not in the event at the reactive level. His body was present. His Surat was elsewhere — merged with the consciousness and the Sound Current at a level the physical event could not penetrate.
This is what the crucifixion demonstrates: not the power to save others from karma, but the power of a mastered nervous system to remain in the consciousness even when the body is undergoing the most extreme possible physical and social destruction. He was showing what is possible. Not offering to do it for you. Showing what you can become through the same preparation.
The turn: Faith in a savior is misdirected not because the teacher was wrong but because it looks outside for what only exists inside. Jesus was demonstrating the state. The invitation is to reach the same state through the same preparation — not to believe in him as the substitute for preparing.
